This is the second and officaly music video
This was the first video released of the song

Original there is two different videos to this song, the first one was produced and realised in 2007 and was surfaced on YouTube. The video contain different range of shots of her in multiple rooms in a white room, the video suggests violence as it is in a dark room and Katy Perry looks unhappy in a unsatisfied relationship and in a cloudy location. There is use of cross cutting techniques to compare the two relationships, as she shows regret.

The second and official video was director by Melina, this music video is about a young women who has montage flash backs whose lover was killed in the France during the second world war. She becomes unhappy and depressed with her new love and wants her deceased lover to come back. The music video was inspired by 40's hair, make-up and costume.


I choose to analyse the second 'Thinking of you' By Katy Perry, I like this video as it telling a story of a romance but it is showing two stories and also I like the period the video has been in set in as many people can link back this period of the war as the video shows how she has loved her love one in the war. At the beginning of the video there is 13 seconds at the beginning of the music video of no music with the sound of a clicking clock in the background and there are close up shots of objects in the women bedroom also there is a shot of a Jesus crisis cross this suggests that they are religious also in this first 13 seconds the women is starring at herself in the mirror this suggests that she is 'lost' or she is thinking of the past or someone she loves is gone. This music video reminds me of the film the 'Notebook' as some of the scenes from the film are similar to some of the shots in the music video also the video shows a type of summer romance. The artist is telling a story through her lyrics and video, the music video is personal as people can relate to this from loved ones who have gone into the war or who have unfortunately lost their lives for fighting for their country.

In the video there are flashbacks of the couple when there were together of them in the summer outside and then it goes back to her now with her partner now but all of these shots are inside this suggests that she trapped and she her facial expressions show that she isn’t happy but when they flashback to the outside where is laughing and smiling with her partner. When the camera flashes backs to her partner in the pass there are shots of him in the war fighting, theses shots are in black and white this to relate back to the war times when video clips, photographs etc. were only shown in black and white.

This shot shows that she is unhappy as you can tell by the emotion on her face


This shot is with her boyfriend before she meet her husband, the music video shows that she doesn’t love her husband more than she loved her boyfriend before he died.

Theses shot is similar to a scene from the Notebook also the period is similar also.

Final Edit

Each member of the class was separated into pairs and edits one different part of the section from the 1.20 minute Britney video. We put all of the 4 parts of edited footage together at the end and this is the final piece.

Research of Music Videos





I choose to analyse this music video ' For the first time' by The Script as this music video is one of my favourite music video and also love how the music video shows to contrast between the artist and the story in the music video .I also like how the music video tells a story as there is an voice over at the beinging of the young girl writting a  postcode to her family telling them about her journery and how the  lyrics from the song links to the music video. The Artist is the story teller in the music video and this makes the video standout .I also like how it shows a story in  in colour and the parts of the artist is in black and white this shows a string contrast between the two. I also like how the music video shows a couples journey and people could link to the video which bring back good memories.

the establishing shot of the  music video there is a close up shot of a postcode card of  a image of the New York statue of liberty this shows the location of where the actors in the music video. Also the video shows a romance between at the characters in the video and it also shows that they are on there travels as the girl is writing back to her family.

There is a various range of shots throughout the video as there are numerous of close up and long shots to create different effects throughout the video also the camera is manly hand held to give it that home feel effect. When the camera is on the artists the camera has a slightly blurred effect to the artists also the camera focus on the artists but the background is blurred out.I also like how there is light lighitng to create different contrats and there is watermarks to create different effects to the video.The director has used an transtion as he has merged do video clips togther between the young girl at her flat and her boyfriend travellling on his motorbike through Newyork.

The target audience for the music video would be young people between the age off 18-25 year olds as this is an age range when young people explore the world on their travels with the partners or friends and leave love ones behind.

My Contribution

My Contribution to the music video I took part throughout  the shooting of the video. I took part of playing Britney at the opening of the video when she is in the class room . I also played Britney in a dancing sequel in the hall way in the music video and took part in the lip syncing part. I think I contributed throughout this video as I took part in the making of the video and decision made throughout the video.

Editting

When editing the video the class was spilt in twos, I was parried with Vinnie and we spilt the editing in two so we both had an equal go at the editing. I and Vinnie had to edit between 40-60 seconds of the clip and edit to the original music video.
when editing the music video it was difficult as we had to match the music to the lip signing also there was different shots cut between each shot.




Me and Vinnie both edit this part of the music video below, we took it in turns to edit parts of the clip.

Fliming

On the day of filming we all took part in recording and directing the music video, throughout the filming of the video we used different shots and angels to create similar shots to the original Britney video. We used lighting to create natural lighting and also to match the lighting in the music video. When we were filming the video we practise the dance routine for the dancing sequels and also we had the original music video on a computer next door with the music on loud so we could lip singing along.

Planning

When planning for the music video we print screened each shot from the original music video so we knew which shot to shoot, we also noted down which person is playing Britney in the music video. On the day of filming each member from the class had a copy of the planning so everyone knew which part they were doing. On the day of filming some people were away on the day so we made changes to the planning.

Preliminary task-Briteny Sprears Music Video

For our Preliminary task for A2, We were asked to recreate Britney Spears - Baby one more time music video. The whole off our media class learnt how director and new skills e.g. how to create different lighting and make certain angels and shots. This task helps us work as a time and help us to learn how music videos work and all the work that goes into music videos. Shot by shot we remade the Britney video up to 1.20 minutes of the video. Each person from the class took part in the directing, playing Britney and Editing the Video.
